Police Misconduct Website to Track Local Bad Cops

Here is a link to a pretty new website, copwatcher.info.  The idea behind the site is to give citizens a way to track police misconduct.  As a former Deputy Sheriff myself I can attest to the fact that those who violate people's rights tend to do it over and over again.

Unfortunately, because of very restrictive laws the general public rarely hears about these incidents.  The goal is to create a community of searchable stories by citizens detailing acts of misconduct.  That way when it is time to defend yourself in court or file a civil suit you are armed with background information about the agency and even individual officers that may aid in your case.

Most misconduct websites on track newsworthy or reported in the news acts of misconduct.  This sites goal is to make it so anyone can share a story regardless of how minor or major the misconduct maybe.  It is still a young site and the forum was just recently set up.  I think I am one of the handful of people who are registered for the forum.

But their are some good articles that detail various law enforcement problems throughout the nation.  I think it is a very good idea and hopefully it will catch on and maybe prevent some law enforcement abuse.
