Tragic inspiration

I have created yet another new website tragicinspiration.com. It's a collection of tragically stupid people and truly inspirational stories. Please check it out and share my articles on social media to help promote it.

What Supplements Should I Take

When it comes to the world of fitness supplements it is a billion dollar a year industry.  The problem is most of that money is wasted by consumers.

I see people all the time who start working out and run down and buy a few hundred dollars in supplements they see in magazines thinking it will help them with their fitness goals.  They begin working out and they thank the supplements for the improvement in their fitness.

What they do not realize is more than the supplements, its the fact they are actually working out and eating right that is the major reason for the change in their body composition.

The use of photographs of your blog or website is one of the things many bloggers overlook.  Unfortunately many do not think about how a block of text looks to a sites readers.  It causes many people to immediately leave a site, because lets face it, people simply do not have a very long attention span these days.  Breaking up text with photos is a great way to keep visitors to your site interested and entertained.
The use of copyright photos can get you punished by Google resulting in low search engine rankings or it can even get you sued.  Paying for photographs may be outside your budget if you are new or just starting out.

GE X400 Camera, Great Budget Ultra Zoom

I have tested several camera's the last few weeks trying to find one that suited my needs.  I settled on the Sony Nex 5T.  But I needed something that took fast photographs for sports.  The GE X400 took satisfactory pictures, but it just was not fast enough for my needs.

The image quality was excellent.  The ultra zoom got me close to the action with minimal blur, but the problem I had was the speed I could shoot the photographs.  The GE X400 only took a photo about every half second.  For most people that is probably fine.  But for sports I ended up missing the exact shot I wanted.

The colors and image quality were fine.  The price was great as I only paid just over $100 for this camera.

If you do not need lightning fast photography, but you want to get close to what you are taking pictures of, this is a great camera.

The only other complaint I had was some of the images required editing due to shadows.  But this was easily corrected with image editing software without much work.  Here are some sample images.

Sony Nex Series best camera ever

I have tried a lot of different camera.  I am not an expert, but I have played with a few high end DSLR cameras and a bunch of point and shoot cameras.  None of them have come close to being as easy to use or producing the image quality as my new Sony Nex 5T.

I chose this camera because Best Buy had an open box unit on sale for $360.  I wanted this unit because it has an NFC feature so I can instantly load my pictures to my smartphone and publish them to the web without a wifi connection or my laptop.

I have only had this camera for about three days but I love it.  I had considered returning it initially.  The one drawback to this camera is the Sony lenses are very expensive.  But I found adapters so I can mount my old Minolta lenses to this camera.

I do a lot of sports photograph.  This camera is amazing for sports pictures.  It snaps an incredible 10 pictures a second.  That blows the low end DSLR camera's out of the water.

The pictures come out crisp and clear.  It works great in automatic mode, but this thing excels in manual mode.  You can set the ISO to a whopping 25000 for low light pictures.

It has a tilting LCD so you can snap pictures from a variety of angles without worry.

And its small.  The camera itself is the size of a point and shoot.  The lense sticks out a little bit but it is much smaller than a DSLR.  But to be honest, I see absolutely no difference between the image quality of this camera vs my friends $1,000 DSLR.

The video quality on this camera is unbelievable as well.

Here are a few sample pictures I took with this camera.  I am still learning photograph, but I am very satisfied with this camera.

Good Luck Trying to Apply for Obamacare

Ok, so among other things I am a procrastinator.  Of course I waited for the last day to come to apply for this genius of an idea called Obamacare.  And of course like the site has done several times before, it crashed.

For those who do not know today is the last day to apply under the act or you face penalties.  The good news is, all you have to do to avoid the penalties is start the application process and you can avoid the penalties for now.

The problem is actually applying.  Living in California I was sent to the California site.  Entered all my information, hit submit and waited about two minutes.  Then in red letters at the top of the page I recieved an error that said "JavaScript Error" and a bunch computer code I do not understand.  Hit the button again same thing.  I tried and third time and the page was blank.

The back button did not do anything.  The refresh button said the page was not avalavle.  So I went back to the home screen try to login in hoping it took my information.  The login screen was blank as well.

I am willing to bet dollars to donuts tonight it will be worse as people get off work and try to register.

You have until midnight to sign up for the unaffordable....I mean affordable care act.

In reality all this whole thing has done is made more people sign up for Medi-Cal which results in a net savings of zero for the government.  In fact, now that more people are part of programs like Medical it means we spend more money on health care as taxpayers because it gives people who would otherwise not go to the doctor for things like a cold, which is completely pointless to do by the way, access to medical care for free.

People would not go to the doctor for minor things like this if they had to pay out of pocket.  But since it is free why not.

So this very well thought out plan, will end up costing taxpayers more.  The penalties paid by those who are unable to register since the government can not seem to keep the site up and running, will be miniscule compared to the extra medical coverage costs taxpayers will pay for the free programs.  Meanwhile, those who work will have to pay enormous costs, because nothing is affordable about this act.

In fact, many low wage earners are being hurt by this act.  Across California, lower wage employees have already begun to see a reduction from full time to part time status preventing them from qualify from work sponsored health plans.  So not only are they failing to qualify for insurance through their employers, they are earning less because they no longer work 40 hour full time work weeks.

We are also seeing a huge increase in the "perma-temp" employee.  Companies that are hiring people through staffing agencies as temps, and never rolling them over as full time employees like they used to.

So who is this plan supposed to benefit?  Employers are not willing to fit the cost of this, so it is the poor working class that suffers the most, while the high earners continue to pay huge tax bills.  Meanwhile, those who do not work and do not pay taxes living on social programs continue about the day like nothing changed.

This act benefits absolutely not one single class of people in this country, except health providers who will continue to show enormous profits.

I agree, everyone should have access to health care, but this was by far the absolute worst way to go about it.  I'm running for President next election and my slogan will be "Higher taxes and lower wages".  At least I will be honest about what is going to happen.

UPDATE:

As of 2:00 PM I was able to get on the site and register.  However, each page was very slow to load.  So slow I thought the page had failed to load more than once.  However, after a lengthy wait each page did load and I was able to successfully register for Covered California.

It still does not change my opinion that this hurts low wage employees as thousands in California are being reduced from full time to part time status so employers avoid penalties, but at least you can register.  By the way, the penalty for failing to register is $95 or 1% of your salary.

Update: WWS Shoes Steps Up and Does the Right Thing

It is not very often I take back anything I say, just ask my girlfriend.  Making it that much harder is it has to do with my most viewed blog post ever. But I am glad to do this one.

Many of you read my post about my displeasure with WSS recent shoe promotion to meet star D-Bo where I found a chaotic scene and employees giving different information resulting in me spending money and still not getting to meet the star.

I received a call from WSS this morning.  They apologized for the situation and said they learned from my complaints and will ensure future events do not make the same mistakes.

For my troubles they are sending my children personalized autographed photos and they offered us a special meet and greet opportunity with Tommy Lister when he comes to the area in the near future for another store opening.

I honestly expected a ten dollar gift card, but the company clearly does value its customers and when things go wrong, they are willing to go out of the way to correct the problem on a corporate level and fast.  I emailed them Saturday afternoon and it is Monday morning and they have already called and emailed me.

This is a brand that clearly made some mistakes, but we all do.  They appear to have learned from it and clearly wanted to make the situation right and I applaud and thank them.  I put my faith in them that their corporation will do whatever is necessary to fix any problem should they arise in the future and I will gladly spend my money with them in the future.

Now lets see if radio station 93.1 even takes the time to contact me as they have thus far failed to do so.
